Beginning a hat at the top opens a world of possibilities. Corrado Lark designed this versatile hat pattern to work with several different weights of yarn. Choose your favorite! Size: Adult small, medium, and large (17 to 19″ circumferences) Recommended Yarn: 2 skeins of Morehouse Merino lace in complementary colors (OR you could use 1 skein of Morehouse Merino 2-ply) Needles: US #5 to knit in the round. The pattern calls for DPNS or a long circular for magic loop, and then also a 16″ circular needle for faster knitting in the round. You can use your DPNS or long circular throughout the whole project. Also recommended: US #4 DPNs or circular for ribbing if desired. You’ll need a 16″ circular OR a long one to use the magic loop method. Gauge: 5 sts/in over stockinette Our Top-Down Hatlan was knit in Haystack and Sand on one long circular needle. (Bonus: you’ll also get instructions to work with worsted yarn held double OR Bulky yarn – you’ll need 100g of either and the needles as above, but in size US #10 and US #8.)
