Light: Needs to be planted in full sun, which is a minimum of six hours a day.Soil: Good drainage is imperative, so any well-drained soil will do.Water: Has low to average water needs. Is very drought tolerant once it’s established.Fertilizing: One application of a rose fertilizer in early spring is sufficient if you have very poor soil. It becomes open and floppy if grown in high-fertility environmentsPruning: In both warm and cold climates, prune bluebeard back to a few inches above the ground each spring. This keeps plants dense and compact. In cold climates, wait until you see signs of growth beginning to emerge on the stems before pruning.
