This native shrub that looks like it could be a picture in a children’s book. The bright pink berries on Proud Berry Pink (formerly known as Proud Berry) coral berry are as sweet looking as bubblegum and are almost as easy to grow as dandelions. Just cut them down by half in the early spring, and it’ll form a springy, rounded habit. Its flowers arrive on new growth, so you don’t have to worry about cutting off the main show. These inconspicuous bell-shaped blooms quietly arrive in mid-summer and turn into berries by fall. Unlike some berry-producing plants, you don’t need another cultivar of coral berry or a male variety. This plant is self-pollinating. Although the berries aren’t edible for humans, birds may come along for a meal after they’ve softened with a few frosts. It makes an unexpected splash in any garden and is especially handsome in spaces where there is already blue-green foliage to echo. Why grow Proud Berry pink coral berry?Fall berry displayNative to North AmericaEasy maintenance
