Light: Needs to be planted in full sun, which is 6 or more hours of direct exposure to the sun per day. Any less than that and the plant will not produce the abundance of flowers it is known for.Soil: Enjoys moist soil the most, but is quite adaptable to different moisture levels and soil types. Thanks to its good disease resistance, it doesn’t get mildew as easily in moist areas as other crapemyrtles. Water: Performs best with steady moisture. If this isn’t natural in your area, be sure to apply a layer of mulch to keep the soil moist for as long as possible.Fertilizing: If desired, fertilize in early spring using a granular (not liquid) fertilizer formulated for woody plants, like a rose fertilizer.Pruning: Regular pruning is not recommended. If any shaping is desired, do so in the late winter before the plant breaks dormancy. Some gardeners like to grow this as a single or multi-stemmed tree. If that interests you, select a robust branch early and prune down all others.
