Warmth is the key word for Kodiak Spiced diervilla. Its new leaves are a blend of orange and copper hues, held by burgundy stems. When trimmed in the spring, it all grows at the same speed and in such a unified manner that it’s a bit mesmerizing when you realize its pops of color are so evenly spaced out. Mature foliage is an easy-on-the-eyes green that melds nicely with the new growth. Yellow flowers arrive in the summer to attract pollinators and add to the array of warm accents. While it does all of the work of providing color, it can also provide filler for cut flower arrangements. These cheery sunset hues make a great low hedge, filler for the middle of the border, or staple in a cut flower garden.
