It needs either neutral or acidic pH as it grows poorly in alkaline soils.Water: After it is established, it’s very drought tolerant.Fertilizing: If desired, you may apply a granular fertilizer formulated for flowering shrubs in late winter/early spring when the soil is workable. You can make another application in early summer to keep the plant blooming prolifically.Pruning: Regular pruning is not necessary. It maintains its most handsome natural habit without much shaping. Dead or damaged wood can be removed at any time, just cut back to a set of leaves. If you are interested in shaping it, get to the task in late winter or early spring.Other: Deadheading isn’t necessary for the plant to rebloom.
