Light: Full (6 hrs/day) to part (4-6 hrs/day) is recommended. While forsythia is very shade tolerant, deep shade will result in fewer blooms and muddy flower color.Soil: Grows well in any soil. Water: Average water needs and is drought tolerant once it’s established.Fertilizing: Not typically needed, but if you’d like you can apply a granular fertilizer formulated for flowering shrubs.Pruning: If you wish to prune, do so immediately after your plant finishes flowering. If growing as a hedge, stop all trimming by mid-late July to ensure a good flower set for next year. Other: Flowering branches make a beautiful flower arrangement. If you’d like to gather stems, spread your cuts around the plant to prevent it from getting a funky shape and having noticeable holes in the habit.
