Water: Average water needs and is drought tolerant once it’s established.Fertilizing: Not typically needed, but if you’d like you can apply a granular fertilizer formulated for flowering shrubs.Pruning: Pruning is has to be perfectly timed not to interfere with flowering. If you’d like to shape it, you can do so just after it finishes flowering in the springtime. Rejuvenation pruning is recommended. Cut 1/3 of the old, thick branches down completely every three to five years. This will encourage the plant to create juvenile growth, which flowers most abundantly. Other: Flowering branches make a beautiful solo flower arrangement. If you’d like to gather stems, spread your cuts around the plant to prevent it from getting a funky shape and having noticeable holes in the habit.
