Light: Really thrives in a full sun spot, one that is exposed to direct sunlight for six hours or longer. Will grow in a part sun spot, but just doesn’t get quite as dense or grow as many flowers.Soil: Will grow in any type of well-draining soil.Water: Has average water needs, but is drought tolerant once it’s established.Fertilizing: Has high nutrient needs. Apply a fertilizer formulated for flowering woody shrubs starting in early spring and continuing each month until July.Pruning: You can prune it to shape in the springtime.Other: Foliage is semi-evergreen, so that means it will drop some leaves in fall, but keep some of its outer leaves in the winter. In zone 7 it will behave similarly to a buddleia, dying back to the ground in the winter. It will regrow from the roots and still produce hundreds of blooms.
