RED ZEPPELIN® Sweetshrub

Color so luxurious it’s like dessert for the eyes. Red Zeppelin sweetshrub is rich burgundy with blushed red new growth and muted green tucked all the way at the center. That nest of green at the center grounds the shrub in nature and prevents the planting from getting a black-hole appearance. The leaves themselves are shiny and wide, providing coarse visual texture, which is hard to come by. It breaks up the view in gardens with a lot of fine texture like nepeta or ornamental grass. In late spring, tight little flowers pop up from the foliage. They’re an orangey color that’s easy to miss, but if you catch it, you’ll be delighted by the contrast in colors.
